The Lady Be Good

One of the Most Decorated Bomb Groups in
World War II...

"To perpetuate the name, history, comradeship, memories and deeds of the living and the heroic dead of the 376th Heavy Bombardment Group"

This site was created and will continue to be maintained in dedication to all the members of the 376th who have risked their life in the fight for our freedom. We wish to preserve the history of the 376th Heavy Bombardment Group and its role in WWll, as well as help others in their search for missing crew members.

If you have pictures, stories, or additions to the In Memoriam page that you would like to contribute to this web site, please email the Association for further information. Please note we have kept the images as large as possible so that they may be slow to load. This way you can see clearly the faces of the brave men who fought so hard during World War II.

376th Bomb Group Mission History

An important addition to the history of the 376th, you'll find complete information about this book at the web site, including Mission Lists and Pilot Rosters.

NEW AS OF 28 March 2005!

I am seeking a color photo of the B-24 "Brewery Wagon" and information about her original crew and her Ploesti raid crew. Any information you can share with me will be greatly appreciated. I am keenly interested in the low level Ploesti raid and want to have my A-2 jacket painted with the "Wagons" nose art as a tribute to her and her crewmen. I already have all the books about Ploesti in my library so I am seeking information that may still be unpublished. If you know of anyone who can help, please contact me.

I am attempting to locate a crew photograph or other photographs depicting Lt. Richard Durbin who served with the 514th Squadron of the 376th Bomb Group as a pilot during the period March, 1944, through August, 1944. I currently possess many personal items relating to Lt. Durbin including his 201 File, logbook, tunic and medals, however, the collection is devoid of any photographs other than a single portrait photograph taken sometime after he received his wings in 1943. Any help you could provide me would be greatly appreciated and I would be more than happy to reimburse you for any costs of reproduction, processing or postage. Thank you very much.

Sincerely,
Michael J. Belles

My uncle, Wayne V. Friberg, was a pilot in the Liberandos - his plane was called "Barrel House Bessie."  He survived the raid on Ploesti and was subsequently shot down over the Mediterranean while returning from a bombing mission over Italy.  From what I have been able to find out, several of his crew survived, although my uncle apparently did not.

I never knew my uncle, but, as my father's older brother, he was my dad's idol, and I grew up hearing all kinds of stories about Uncle Wayne.  My father (also a WWII veteran) has passed away, but I will never forget his tales of Uncle Wayne.  I would greatly appreciate receiving any information anyone might have, or any stories they are willing to share.  Photos would be wonderful - I would pay for any reproduction costs and return the photos. Thank you very much for your time.

Lynn (Friberg) Schuetter
